We will be offering a unique opportunity this year during Advent. You are invited to enter into “Monastic Life” by participating in a small group program, AN ADVENT JOURNEY: MONASTIC WISDOM FOR EVERYDAY LIFE. Monastic life has precious values to share with today's world. In 2006 the Learning Channel TV network sent five film crews to Our Lady of the Mississippi Abbey, Dubuque, Iowa. Their assignment was to document the experience of five women ages 23-60, who came from diverse backgrounds and religious persuasions. They left behind their normal lifestyles and lived for forty days and forty nights inside a monastery of contemplative nuns. The result of these efforts offers a unique spiritual opportunity for us today. This four-week program includes a weekly video of what these women experienced and a discussion about what we can learn from them that impacts our everyday lives. We will meet at 6:30 PM in the Parish Library for the four Sundays in Advent. Materials will be provided. Any questions, call me, Maureen Utter at 357-4978. Please consider “entering the silence” during this holy season of Advent.
